Helping community and regional healthcare organizations navigate complex decisions involving technology, cybersecurity, organizational resilience, and strategic change.
I provide independent executive IT advisory services rooted in four decades of leadership. Wilson Pond Consulting helps organizations simplify technology and strengthen infrastructure to drive mission success.
How I Can Help
Executive Technology Advisory
Healthcare leaders don't always need another implementation consultant. Sometimes they need someone who can step back, look at the whole situation, and provide an independent assessment. I can help with:
-
Technology strategy and governance
-
Major technology initiatives
-
IT organizational effectiveness
-
CIO and technology leadership questions
-
Vendor and technology decisions
-
Technology investment priorities
-
Independent review of complex technology issues
Cybersecurity & Risk
Cybersecurity is an organizational risk, not simply a technical problem. I help healthcare leadership evaluate whether cybersecurity priorities, governance, preparedness, and investments are appropriately aligned with organizational risk. Areas may include:
-
Executive cybersecurity risk assessment
-
Cybersecurity governance
-
Incident-response preparedness
-
Vulnerability and risk management
-
Security awareness
-
Third-party risk
-
Executive-level cybersecurity priorities
Organizational Resilience
Healthcare organizations depend on interconnected systems, people, facilities, vendors, and processes. I help leadership examine whether the organization is prepared to continue critical operations when significant disruptions occur. Areas may include:
-
Business continuity
-
Technology dependencies
-
Critical operations
-
Vendor and supply-chain dependencies
-
Facilities and infrastructure
-
Emergency preparedness
-
Organizational resilience
Executive & CIO Advisory
Sometimes the most valuable resource is an experienced person who can provide an independent perspective. I work with healthcare executives and technology leaders on a confidential advisory basis, including:
-
CIO mentoring
-
Executive decision support
-
Leadership transitions
-
Complex organizational issues
-
Major technology decisions
-
Strategic planning
About
I help community and regional healthcare organizations make better decisions about technology, cybersecurity, organizational resilience, and strategic change.
After a 40-year career in technology and healthcare leadership—including more than 20 years with MaineGeneral Health and service as Chief Information Officer—I now provide independent executive advisory and consulting services to healthcare organizations.
My experience extends well beyond traditional IT leadership. Throughout my career, I have led complex technology initiatives, enterprise transformation, cybersecurity and breach response, business continuity, emergency management, and broad operational functions. As an Administrative Director of Operations, I was responsible for areas including Plant Operations, Security, Supply Chain, Environmental Services, Food & Nutrition, and Laboratory.
As CIO, I led the strategic transition from multiple disparate clinical and business systems to an integrated enterprise platform, helping establish the technology foundation for significant organizational change.
I have also experienced cybersecurity from the executive seat. Following a significant data security incident, I directed the organization's breach response, including forensic investigation, remediation, regulatory response, and long-term improvements to cybersecurity, risk management, and organizational resilience.
Today, I work with healthcare executives and leadership teams that need an experienced, independent perspective on issues such as:
• Technology strategy and governance
• Cybersecurity risk and executive preparedness
• Organizational resilience and business continuity
• Major technology initiatives and transformation
• IT organizational effectiveness
• Executive decision support
• CIO and technology leadership mentoring
My approach is practical and outcomes-focused. I listen first, understand the organization and its people, identify the issues that matter most, and help leaders turn complexity into clear priorities and action.
After four decades in the field, my goal is not to build another large organization or return to a full-time executive role. I want to use the experience I've accumulated to help healthcare leaders make better decisions—and to share the lessons learned along the way.
